Precision Organic Chemistry for the Life Sciences
Organic synthetic chemistry has a unique strength and appeal: it enables the precise and flexible construction of molecules. The power of organic chemistry is indispensable for designing molecules and creating new functions, and it serves as a foundation for a wide range of fields, including drug discovery and materials development.
Through the development of new reactions and precise molecular transformations, we seek to fully harness the potential of organic chemistry and extend it toward practical applications in drug discovery and biomaterials. More specifically, our research focuses on the site-selective modification of peptides, stereoselective editing of peptide structures, and the modular synthesis of unsymmetrical disulfides. Furthermore, by extending these studies to the synthesis of functionalized proteins, the construction of multifunctional materials, the development of cleavable linkers for biological applications, and the development of useful reagents suitable for industrial production, we aim to contribute to solving key challenges in drug discovery and materials science.
